a book mobile! Introducing…
BIB•LI•O•BAR: a bar relating to books; also, a bar for book lovers
We hope that BIBLIOBAR will soon be a bookstore and cafe located in North Dallas. We will offer general interest books, graphic novels, bookish gift items, and events with a focus on the community and bringing amazing authors to the area!
This won't just be another bookstore for you to run in and run out. Our store will encourage new and seasoned readers to pick up a new book and a delicious drink in a casual, cozy setting, making our store the perfect spot to discuss your favorite books and authors or to sit quietly and read to your heart's content! All of our new bookish friends (you!) will be able to drink the best locally roasted coffee, specialty blended teas, house made lemonade and locally sourced pastries.
Update — Phase One!
In the fall of 2018, we excitedly, but admittedly hesitant, purchased a 40’ 2011 Eldorado Axess Transit Bus to convert into a mobile bookstore and coffee bar. Everything that we have promised above will be accomplished with this bus — we’ll just be mobile!
I’m sure you have lots of questions. We did too. And, honestly, we still do. But we love the idea of moving around neighborhoods to see which part of the community embraces us the most. We plan to stay in our North Dallas ‘hood for our weekday stops, which will be pretty consistent, including downtown Garland, downtown Rockwall, Cityline Richardson, Plano, and much more. On the weekends, we’ll be moving around to area events and festivals to meet new book people! The bus has a ton of space and we hope to have at least 2,000 titles available on the bus. Bibliobus will also be available for book fairs, school visits, senior home visits and so much more. We want to bring the bookstore to you!
The bus seems to be working great, although we have only moved it a few times. We have just begun the conversion and hope to be semi-completed by early summer. Until then, we have a lot of work to do.
How can you help? PLEASE, purchase books, audio books, e-books, or merchandise from our SHOP. We’re also looking for donated time and help from electricians, plumbers and handy people to help us in the build out of the bus.
When we’re ready for a full service brick-and-mortar space, we’ll be adding a curated wine, craft beer and cider tap list, as well as a full service cafe. The timeline for a permanent spot is fully dependent on the success and support of Bibliobus.
North Dallas will have a new place to hang out in a fun and comfortable environment for the whole family. Designed for reading and discussion, we plan to have a variety of exciting events every week, including author readings, wine tastings, game nights, and book clubs for all ages. It will be your favorite place to have a wine with the ladies, play date with the kids, game night with the guys, or an afternoon with the family. We will have a dedicated children's space, offering the best children’s books, story times (while mom and dad have a drink!), educational workshops, and more.
Our public events are currently on hold as we focus on remodeling our bus, launching Summer 2019. In the meantime, we are still accepting online orders and hosting school book fairs. To schedule an event or request our attendance at a future event, please contact us!
